Workshop

Unlocking Communication: Enhancing Classroom Communication and Learning for Autistic Students

Description

Join us on Stand A22 at this year’s Autism Show Birmingham to find out about unlocking communication skills in your classroom.

In a world where words can sometimes create barriers, symbols can be a universal language, offering new pathways for understanding, expression, and connection. This workshop, suitable for the novice or the expert, delves into the power of symbol-based communication for Autistic students. During this session we will explore the fundamentals of symbol-based communication, its implementation in the classroom, and the positive impact it can have on our students. Discover how embracing this approach can create a more inclusive and supportive learning environment where every student has the opportunity to thrive.

We will discover a symbol-based communication app that you can use in the classroom, and we will discuss how this can be implemented to ensure communication success! Expect practical tips, demonstrations and free resources allowing you to get started right away!

*Please note that this workshop will take place during the Autism Show Birmingham 2024. You will need to have tickets to access the event. More information can be found here: https://birmingham.autismshow.co.uk/*
