NavBar Pageset - How to Create a New Topic That is Similar and Customizable
This can be useful when the individual wants to have multiple topics that are very similar but need different messages in one or more hotspot or tab that he/she does not want in the original topic.(For example, a menu for an Italian restaurant versus a Mexican restaurant, or what you talk with a neurologist about versus an orthopedic surgeon.)
1. Select the Settings button from the Toolbar.
If the Toolbar is disabled, select the Modify button at the top right corner of the screen , and, from the dialog that opens, select Settings.
2. Select Page Browser.
3. Use the Up arrow to navigate to the desired topic folder.
4. Select Manage.
5. Select the folder for the topic you want to copy, and then select the Copy To button on the button bar.
6. Select the Select button at the top right corner of the screen.
7. After receiving the message, Copy Complete, select OK.

Renaming Copied Topics
The following steps are optional. If you prefer a copied topic to retain its default title ([Original Name] Copy), skip to Naming the Topic in the Navigation Bar (below).1. Select the folder to be renamed, and select Rename.
2. Create a unique name for the folder to distinguish it from the original.

The following steps are optional. If you prefer a copied topics to retain its default title ([Original Name] Copy), skip to How to Put Your New Topic on the NavBar(below).1. Navigate to the folder you created.
2. Select the Visual Scene folder.
3. Select the Manage button at the top right corner of the screen.
4. Select the page in the Visual Scene folder, and then select Rename.
5. Type the label you want to see in the Navigation Bar, using all capital letters to be consistent with other labels. (If you renamed the folder, you might want to use that name again.)
6. Select OK.7. Select Done.

How to Put Your New Topic on the NavBar
1. Select Levels on the NavBar.2. Select Topics.
3. Select the Select Topics from the Topics Library button.
4. Select the Managebutton at the top right corner of the screen.
5. Select the New Page button in the button bar.

6. Navigate to the NavBar Pageset.
7. Select Topics.
8. Select your new folder.
9. Select Visual Scene.
10. Select the page in that folder.
11. Select the green Select button at the top right corner of the screen.
12. Scroll to the bottom of your Topicslist to find your new topic already selected.

13. Use the Move up and Move Down buttons to organize your list of topics.
14. Select the green Donebutton at the top right corner of the screen.

Any changes made to messages will affect the copied topic and the original. If you’d like to edit messages in the copy without it affecting the original topic, continue to the How to Make a Copy of the Datasection below.

How to Make a Copy of the Data
This process will allow you to have different messages in some hotspots or tabs in each topic.1. Select the Settings button on the Toolbar.

2. Select Vocabulary.
3. Select Topics.
4. Select Manage.
5. Select the folder with the data you want to copy.
6. Select the Copy To button in the button bar.
7. Select the green Select button at the top right corner of the screen.
8. Select Manage.
9. By default, the new copy will have the same name as the original. Locate the folders with identical names, and select the second of the two.

Using Your New Data in a Hotspot or Tab
The copy of the topic is still connected to the original topic’s data at this time. That means that a change to the messages in one will change them both. Use the following procedure to link a hotspot or tab to the new data so that changes to messages will not affect your original Topic.1. Select the Settings button on the Toolbar.
If the Toolbar is disabled, select the Modify button at the top right corner of the screen, and, from the dialog that opens, select Settings.
2. Select Page Browser.
3. Select the page you're modifying and choose Editor.
4. Select the tab for the subtopic to edit.
5. Select the vocabulary grid. Then select the Properties button at the top left corner of the grid.
Notice that the source is the original data source.
6. Select Browse.
7. Navigate to the Talk Topics folder.
8. Select your new data folder.
9. Select the subtopic you want to change. Then select the green Select button at the top right corner of the screen.
The data source will now be your new data folder.
10. Select File, then Save, and edit as you normally would.
Changes to messages of unchanged subtopics will still affect the original topic.
