Unable to Log Into Yahoo Email - Incorrect Username or Password
An error message pops up when you attempt to Send/Receive new Yahoo Mail. The message is below:
POP3 Receive Message Headers reported the error (1): Error connecting to host. Error description: Request: PASS ********
Response: -ERR [AUTH] (#MBR1212) Incorrect username or password.
First make sure you have confirmed the username and password were in fact typed in correctly. Check for CAPS Lock and NUM Lock. If the username and password were typed in correctly beyond a doubt then please follow the steps below.
1. Open a web browser and go to www.yahoo.com through the browser.
2. Log in if necessary
3. Select your name and choose Account Info
4. Select Account Security
5. Enable Allow apps that use less secure sign in.
Some Yahoo! email accounts that belong to AT&T customers do not have an option to enable "Allow apps that use less secure sign in". In this case you will need to create a secure mail key. Please follow the instructions in this link. click here. Once the secure mail key has been created, in Communicator replace your password with the secure mail key.
If your username and password are correct in Communicator you should now be able to access your email without receiving that error.
