Why has my power button stopped working after updating Windows 11?
Summary
Following the release of Windows 11 version 24H2 in December 2024, some TD I‑110 devices may experience changes in power behavior.
These changes can include:
- The power button not waking the device from sleep
- Difficulty powering the device on using the power button or a connected switch
- Needing to hold the power button for longer than usual, or repeating the attempt
Resolution
Tobii Dynavox has provided an update called PowerSleep Configuration Hotfix.
This update adjusts system settings related to power and sleep behavior.
The update is delivered through Update Notifier and requires a device restart to take effect. After installation, normal power button behavior is restored and the device can receive current Windows updates.
Installation steps
- From the Desktop, open Update Notifier.
- Allow Update Notifier to check for updates.
- When PowerSleep Configuration Hotfix appears, select Download.
- Select Install.
- When prompted, restart the device:
- Open the Start Menu
- Select Power
- Choose Restart
Once the device restarts, no further action is required.
Additional information
- If PowerSleep Configuration Hotfix is not installed, the Windows 11 24H2 upgrade will not be offered on TD I‑110 devices.
- Access to Microsoft’s Media Creation Tool is also restricted until the update is installed.
- Attempting to upgrade using the Media Creation Tool will result in an error message.
